Safe medicine: Combatting counterfeit vaccines
The WHO is “aware of vaccines being diverted and reintroduced into the supply chain, with no guarantee that cold chain has been maintained,” WHO chief said, adding that counterfeit vaccines have been sold on the internet, primarily on the dark web.

Sureshot: Securing Medical Supply Chain

Can/Do we trust the dose?
Whilst vaccines are some of the most effective technologies to protect humans from infectious diseases, when it comes down, we naturally question: what’s going into my / my child’s body?
From contamination scandals, black-markets, to counterfeit vaccines, the public health of vaccines are surrounded by risks that the average citizen would be helpless with. What can be done at the macro-level to save the confidence?
Sureshot:
Traceable, Trustable.
Sureshot aims at helping government bodies and pharmaceutical manufacturers monitor the use of vaccines in developing countries.
The system uses machine learning to identify geolocation, other details related to the recipient, and information on the medical provider.
A thermochromic material layer in the syringe also helps determine if an individual product is likely to fail in cold-chain. The adhesive layer on the label lets it double as a bandage after injection. The SureShot mobile app allows consumers to scan the vaccine syringe before injection to quickly acquire relevant information.

iF Design Talent Award 2020
“We are witnessing the critical important of vaccines in these difficult times. People with pre-existing medical conditions are in high-risk groups during pandemics. SureShot is a well-thought-through design solution featuring advanced and advanced user experience, value propositioning and system level design.”
